Are You Kidding Me Part TWO
11:00 am, today, again, two weeks later from THE phone call, CCAI calls me all excited. Guess What!! We have your paperwork from China - you're Matched! Here we were thinking we had two months maybe three more to wait - but nope! Looks like we will be heading to Hunan in July. Wow. We have a lot to do.

A Word From Claire
We've been asked a lot about what Claire thinks of her sister and I'm happy to report that she thinks she's "adorable" - her words. "Mommy, she's so cute!" is what she said when she saw her picture. At night she's been praying real hard that her baby sister Hope comes home soon and joins our family, and she asks that she is still a baby when we get her. I think she's worried she'll be out ranked or something. Her suggestion for a name was Sarabelly after her best friend Sara, but we steered her away from that choice.
It must be registering with her too, because although Claire has always been very generous with the "I love you's", she's upped them up to about 50 times a day - really. Whenever I leave her sight for more than five minutes, she asks for me and then just says "I love You!" If this is her way of rebellion, bring it on.

You know, Oprah has extra toes too...

We got new pictures of Hope today! What a beauty, we think. We couldn't help but notice the extra piggies on her feet - we knew they might be there, it was mentioned once in her health report, but we weren't sure. However, they they are in their full glory! A friend of mine pointed out that Oprah has extra toes, and if it's true it has not held her back at all, and she wears designer shoes every day! The doctors say it's actually very common, and when we bring her in for evaluation, they will "take care" of those toes for us. ouch.

The Waiting Place...

So we are looking at her pictures and chart and learn that her "special need" is a cleft lip and palate. Her lip has been repaired already when she was only 9 months old (and without a mommy or daddy to hold her!), and her palate will need to be repaired after she gets home. Otherwise, she is healthy and by the looks of her pictures, has a little spicy attitude. Which is what they say about babies from Hunan - look out. I don't blame her though. Look at the outfits they make her wear!
We still have not idea as to when we can go to get her. Of course, as our luck would have it, the damn Olympics are smack dab in the middle of when we should be going to get her. There is no official word out of China yet as to how they are going to handle foreign adoptions, but one would assume they would stop all travel for the three weeks of the games - (really - THREE Weeks of stupid sports? Come on. Who cares!!!") . So, once again we wait.

Are You Kidding Me?

Huh. Just when you think you've got life all figured out, and you start accepting the Universe and what it gives you, it throws you a curve ball. Today, at 10:40 am, as I was driving down US-36, chatting on the phone to my BFF, Cathy, about the tourture of 20 month old kids, a call came in from CCAI. Fully expecting to hear that we needed to get them some more paperwork or money... Pam, the woman on the other end of the line asks "Are you ready to be a mama again??!" My head spinned and gravity gave out for a minute. I actually screamed at her: "What? Are you KIDDING me?" about 10 times before she assured me that she was not some psycho crank caller. I kept driving, but pulled into some parking lot and things that I had driven by every day seemed foreign. I didn't know where I was as I tried to absorb this news that just came through my cell phone. I was shaking as I called David. I knew this news would be exciting, but would also scare him to death at this moment in our lives.
See, for almost two years (LID 9/11/2006) we've had our paperwork in China and we've been waiting. Waiting, waiting, waiting. We hadn't heard anything since December when we switched our file to the Waiting Child program. We just assumed
it would be another 6 - 8 months if and when it would happen! But it did. After a frenzy of paperwork, and entirely sleepless night for me, we accepted this darling little girl into our lives. Let the wild ride begin...and the waiting.
